What does it do?

Cialis contains tadalafil which is known medically as PDE5 inhibitor. Tadalafil inhibits the PDE5 enzyme involved in regulating blood flow in the penis during erections. Sexual stimulation is required before the drug works-without stimulation it will not have an effect. Cialis increases and supports sexual performance and relationships.

Tadalafil can also be used to treat symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate).

Why Cialis?

Cialis benefits from a long duration of action. Viagra remains active for about 4 hours, Levitra for 4-5 hours and Cialis for 36 hours – hence its well-known name “the Weekend Pill”. Erections will not be continuous during 36 hours after taking Cialis, occurring only during periods of arousal during these 36 hours.

Taking Cialis for the first time

There are four advantages: 2.5 mg, 5mg, 10mg and 20mg. Lower doses of 2.5 mg and 5 mg are mainly for regular daily use, although the 5 mg content can be taken according to the needs of men who respond well to single lower doses.

The usual starting dose is 10 mg taken at least 30 minutes before sexual activity. If this dose is very effective, subsequent doses could be reduced to 5 mg on a trial basis. If repeated 10 mg dose tests prove ineffective, the dose may be increased to 20 mg.

There is no benefit in taking a higher dose than is required. Repeated single-dose therapy trials are recommended before switching to higher or lower-strength tablets.

Does it work every time?

The response to treatment is usually predictable and consistent. In most cases, if Cialis has worked in the past, it will work again.

Some causes of erectile dysfunction, such as physical injuries or nerve damage, are more resistant to tablet treatments and may require other treatments, such as penile injections or implants.

Erectile dysfunction may require specialized treatment in addition to tablets. Some men, whose erectile dysfunction has psychological causes, may benefit from counseling.

All men who have problems with erectile dysfunction, which can be an annoying problem, should consult a doctor for a full evaluation and advice.

Side effects of Cialis

Most men do not experience significant side effects. The full list of the most common side effects can be found in the manufacturer’s patient information leaflet supplied with tablets (links below)

Some men experience a blue or yellowish tinge in their vision after taking Cialis. This is not dangerous and fades after a few hours. This is a possible side effect of all ED drugs (PDE5 inhibitors).

Other common side effects (affecting 1% -10%) include headache, back pain, muscle aches, pain in the arms or legs, nasal congestion, facial flushing and indigestion.

In very rare cases, treatment with ED causes prolonged and painful erections, in a condition known as priapism. Priapism is a medical emergency with a rare chance of irreversible injury to the penis. If the erection lasts more than 2 hours, you should immediately seek medical help.

When not to take Cialis?

Cialis without further evaluation by their doctor if any of the following applies:
